Detail Is Retail

Hi! Today we went down to Stewarton and viewed our flat that we have just bought. It was so exciting to be able to take some pictures of it and work out measurements for our furniture etc! Russell's mum & dad came with us which was a great help as they could give us lots of helpful advice.

So after the trip to Stewarton we headed back into Glasgow. We went to view a couple of pieces of furniture we wanted to see in real life. First was this steel frame TV unit from Dwell. It's really stylish and not too over the top. I wasn't sure if it'd maybe be a bit on the small side but weighing it up with our sofa, coffee table etc.. it should look just right. It is £299. Quite pricey but compared to the Ikea TV units it's not that much more and with the Dwell one it has space for your TV cables to fit down to the power socket instead of running around the side of the unit - UGLY!

Second was this pretty side table. It's £149. Very pricey again, but as they say 'detail is retail' and it's great quality and nice detail. I think we'll need to hold off on this one for a month though as it's not a necessity and it's a bit too much for a side table at the moment. It's definitely on my want list though (which is worryingly long already... does the novelty wear off? Will I go back to buying expensive make up and cute jewellery? Answers on a postcard please!) Next we headed to John Lewis, which is one of my favourite shops. I love their home ware range, so many pretty things!

We are going to paint the flat a neutral colour to begin with and along the way we might add a couple of feature walls with different types of wallpaper or something similar. I think It'd just be too much to do for moving in and It'd be a huge expense. Anyway, I seen a couple of Vivienne Westwood wallpapers to die for! I didn't even bother checking the prices as I think It'd put me off.. maybe not... I'll put links for them underneath.
